During my first year in grad school I got the idea that a rocket-powered bicycle would be a fun thing to have. So I took the day off, and between the hobby shop, OSH, and Radio Shack, managed to turn my Diamondback into a fire-breathing dragon. Here's a photo of the one and only live firing, taken by my roommate Matt. It wasn't a lot of thrust, but it kept the bike going at a pretty good speed across half of the parking lot. Burning $60 worth of rocket motors in 3 seconds was not very cost-effective fun.
